Canvas Print___Structure In Landscape
This painting captures the raw beauty of industrial structures, focusing on how time and the elements reshape them. Inspired by the many bridges I’ve studied, it explores the way corrosion and decay soften rigid steel and concrete, turning them into something almost organic.
Loose, expressive brushstrokes and layers of atmospheric color bring out the grime and grit of these mechanical environments. The mix of warm and cool tones shifts across the surface, reflecting the stains of grease, oil, rust, and pollution. The structure itself stands weathered, surrounded by the bold, almost toxic colors of an industrial landscape. Yet, a clean sky blue cuts through the composition, directly contrasting the chemical grime and toxic nature of the surrounding atmosphere, offering a stark visual tension.
Rather than painting the full bridge as it was, I focused on key angles and details, breaking it down into something more abstract. I rebuilt the bridge’s forms into a new imagined structure, one that shares the same industrial function but exists as something redefined. The end result isn’t just about the structure itself—it’s about movement, weight, and the slow transformation of something once solid and strong into something entirely new.
Beautiful compositions by Richard transforming industrial details into calligraphic printed canvas.
