Tapestry___Bridge Composition #2
Inspired by the former railroad bridge in the West Bottoms of Kansas City—relocated to serve as a pedestrian walkway behind Union Station—I have reconfigured its structure into a stylized pattern, much like its original repurposing. The colors are muted, portraying the grit of the rail yard, yet illuminated to mimic the lights and silhouetted glow of the surrounding environment. By merging structural precision with the softness of fabric, I introduce backlighting to heighten contrast, enrich color, and create an ethereal interplay of light and shadow. This technique enhances the tension between solidity and fluidity, further emphasizing the balance between engineered form and environmental transformation.
Beautiful compositions by Richard transforming industrial details into calligraphic fabric tapestry .
