Here's an intro on color mixing:
Use a paper plate or disposable container to mix small amounts of paint. The paint goes farther than it looks like it would. Dip your brush into water and add to the paint several times to make it easier to spread on your beach bag.

- Pink: mix a small amount of red into white
- Light Green: mix yellow with green
- Grey: mix a small amount of black into white
- Orange: mix a small amount of red into yellow
- Turquoise: mix a small amount of blue into into equal parts white and yellow

Transfer Your Design to the Beach Bag
Choose your design from the design sheets. Place the carbon paper (black side down) on the center of the beach bag. Use masking tape on corners to keep design from moving while tracing. |

Paint the Background of Your Image
Start painting the background area first. Mix LOTS of water with the paint on the surface of the beach bag by dipping your brush in water often and brushing into the painted area. |

Use a Paper Towel to Shape Clouds Out of
Background Color Paper towels are helpful to clean up an accidentally mark and also to make clouds. |

Emphasize Your Clouds with Paint
Once you have blotted out the blue background with paper towels, you can use white paint along the top of the cloud to create a 3-d looking cloud. |

Rinsing Brush
When switching colors, swish your brush in a container of water and blot out the excess paint from the brush with a paper towel. |

Blending Colors, Making Shadows
You can blend wet colors to make shadows. |

Outline Objects
Once your beach bag surface is COMPLETELY dry, you can outline objects with a dark watery paint using your small brush. Notice how water is added to the paint and then roll we roll the brush to remove excess paint from the bristles. These techniques will help you achieve a thinner line. |
